Why in Salem, OR?
Salem ๐ has loved cherry blossoms ๐ since a long time ago! Back in 1903, they had their first Cherry Festival ๐. Four years later, in 1907, Salem got the cool nickname "Cherry City" ๐ธ. People really liked cherries there!
There was a group called the "Cherrians" who wanted to have a big Blossom Day every year ๐ธ. They tried in 1913, but it didn't work out.
